Tonight I am writing my support letter to send out this weekend. With this comes much reflection on life and particularly this past four years of college. I came into college knowing about Christ and the price He paid for me on the cross, but it didn't have a relationship with Him. I met two Campus Outreach staff guys playing basketball in the gym at the end of my freshmen year. In coming back to school my sophomore year I got involved in a bible study which God used to show me that I had not completely surrendered my life to Jesus. Reflecting back on these years I have seen ups and downs in life but it is clearly evident that there has been one thing that has stood firm, the love that has been so freely given to me through the work on the cross.
Throughout these next few months of support raising and transitioning from a student on the college campus to a missionary on the campus, I pray that I can continue to cling to this rock. In Matthew 7:24-27 Jesus says,
"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it."
I pray that throughout this journey I will remember that just as Christ saved me from my sins and constantly covers me with grace, He too never leaves and His love never fails. To be able to look back on my life and clearly see times in which I had my house built on the sand, and now know the beautiful, secure feeling of a house built upon the rock, Christ Jesus; I want to give my life away to lost people in hopes that they too will experience this perfect love. I pray through faith, that the fruit in this season of my life would have no other explanation than the works of Christ alone.
